The 1TB version of MP44 has a declared maximum bandwidth of up to 7400MB/s read and up to 6500MB/s write. Considering it’s a DRAM-less design, and this bandwidth is confirmed by our tests, then it’s really great. As some readers expect, under the label with a graphene heatsink, we will find a Maxio controller. It’s the only controller used in DRAM-less M.2 SSD, which gives us so amazing results. We could see it previously in Acer Predator GM7 SSD, which was the first M.2 SSD released with this controller. However, Acer SSD appeared only as review samples, and you can’t buy it in popular online stores, while the MP44 from TEAMGROUP is widely available and is quite cheap for what it offers.
The MP44 SSD arrived with a 0 hours counter and a perfect condition. CrystalDiskInfo shows that the SSD is brand new without SMART errors or used cells.
The firmware was also the latest one when we received the SSD, but it’s not really important as there are no issues.
The idle temperature is around 30°C which is expected for this type of SSD. During load, we can expect between 45°C and 50°C, as you can see on the screenshot below, which was taken after multiple tests.
TEAMGROUP specified a maximum temperature during work as 70°C. It’s much more than we will ever see on this SSD. What’s more, the firmware has programmed maximum temperatures of 95°C. It’s impossible to reach that on a desktop or laptop computer. In short, you don’t have to worry about thermal throttling, as it does not exist on this SSD.
On the next page, we will look at the SSD itself and the package contents.
