Package and Contents
In the package, we receive the MP44 1TB SSD and nothing else. On the package is a short product description, but if we wish for some more details or an installation manual, then we have to visit the TEAMGROUP website. M.2 SSD installation is very simple, and every motherboard or laptop has a quick installation guide, so we don’t have to worry.
The only real requirement for optimal performance is an M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 socket. Most modern motherboards support M.2 PCIe 4.0, so we shouldn’t have a problem. The maximum bandwidth depends on the used motherboard and chipset. The declared 7.4GB/s will be possible on AMD chipsets, both desktop and laptop series. If we have a motherboard with an Intel chipset, then we probably won’t see much above 7GB/s.
The PCB of the 1TB version is single-sided. It makes it easier to install on small laptops and ultrabooks. It doesn’t really matter on desktop computers. Since there is no DRAM, then the SSD itself is much simpler, and it heats up significantly less, so it doesn’t require additional cooling.
Our tests were performed on an ASUS motherboard with a DIMM.2 card, as you see in the photos below. The card supports up to PCIe 5.0, so it’s not limiting the MP44 SSD bandwidth. Tests were performed without heatsinks, so again, exactly as you see in the photos below.
We will show you how the MP44 SSD performs on the next page of this review.
