Package and Contents
We received the MP44S 1TB SSD in the package and nothing else. On the package is a short product description, but if we wish for more details or an installation manual, we must visit the TEAMGROUP website. M.2 SSD installation is very simple, and every motherboard or laptop has a quick installation guide, so we don’t have to worry.
The only real requirement for optimal performance is an M.2 2230 PCIe socket. The SSD is backward compatible and designed to work with hand-held gaming consoles like Steam Deck that don’t support PCIe 4.0. We can count on better results on a laptop computer or newer gaming consoles.
The PCB of the MP44S is single-sided. The SSD itself is tiny, which is even more impressive when we take a look at the specifications and declared performance.
Our tests were performed on the Valve Steam Deck hand-held console with installed Windows 11 for better comparison tests and more test options. Steam Deck is not sold with Microsoft OS, but Valve delivers a pack of drivers, making it possible to use the console as a mobile PC. Storage performance is expected to be similar on Steam OS.
We will show you how the MP44S SSD performs on the next page of this review.
