Package and Contents
We received the X1 MAX 1TB flash drive in the retail package, which is quite small and combines cardboard and a transparent plastic blister. The package contains a short product description, but if we wish for more details or an installation manual, we must visit the TEAMGROUP website. On the other hand, a USB flash drive doesn’t require a manual. We connect the USB, and it works.
The only requirement for optimal performance is a USB-A or C port with a 10Gbps bandwidth. Not every device has such a port, but it is becoming common in new devices. If we connect it to an older generation USB, then it will still work, but not as fast as the manufacturer declared.
The flash drive is very fast and, in our tests, exceeded the bandwidth specified by the manufacturer. However, there is one downside: the extended high load causes it to throttle because of too high temperatures. This happens mainly during longer writes, and then the performance drops by about half until the flash drive cools down. We could say it’s still not so bad, as 500MB/s for a flash drive is still an amazing result. It would be better if it didn’t throttle at all.
