In conclusion, the TerraMaster F2-210 NAS Home Server is an entry-level NAS product from TerraMaster. Although the performance of this NAS is pretty much standard, it should meet the needs of most users. The NAS is powered by a Realtek RTD1296 quad-core ARM CPU, which offers low power consumption, and thus reduce the overall running costs. However, it only has 1GB of memory, and the encryption function is limited. Having said that, I don’t think you can find a NAS server at such a low price of only USD $149
Now there other NAS available on the market that’s equipped with a lot of software, and quite rich in features with a lot more functions! Sure, but the TerraMaster F2-210 NAS does have an advantage …and that’s its small size. Although it only has two hard drive bays, its maximum supported capacity is 32TB, which is more than enough for many users. More importantly, you can download a lot of useful software in the application center of this NAS, such as Cloud Sync, Dropbox Sync, Google Drive Sync, DLNA Media Server, Emby Server, Plex Media Server, iTunes Server, Mail Server, Web Server, SVN Server … and much more!
In our benchmark tests, we tested the speed of this NAS when using hard disk types RAID 0, RAID 1, JBOD, and SingleDisk.
In RAID 0
- CrystalDiskMark in 32GiB Seq Q32T1 read and write speeds of 101.5MB / s and 90.5MB / s;
- NAS Performance Tester the average read and write speeds are 88.91MB / s and 91.93MB / s;
- LAN Speed Test maximum read and write speed is 647.6MB / s and 663.5MB / s;
- AJA Video System measured read and write speeds of 74MB / s and 92MB / s per second.
In RAID 1
- CrystalDiskMark in 32GiB Seq Q32T1 read and write speeds of 103.7MB / s and 72.68MB / s;
- NAS Performance Tester average read and write speeds were 88.84MB / s and 68.99MB / s;
- LAN Speed Test maximum read and write speed was 670.5MB / s and 500.4MB / s;
- AJA Video System measured write speeds of 66MB / s and 67MB / s.
For JBOD
- CrystalDiskMark at 32GiB Seq Q32T1, the read and write speeds are 99.34MB / s and 81.81MB / s;
- NAS Performance Tester we got average read and write speeds of 88.61MB / s and 78.93MB / s;
- LAN Speed Test the maximum speed of 588.7MB / s and 588.0MB / s;
- AJA Video System measured read and write speeds of 69MB / s and 74MB / s per second.
On a single hard disk
- CrystalDiskMark reads and writes at 107.4MB / s and 79.88MB / s at 32GiB Seq Q32T1;
- NAS Performance Tester average read and write speeds were 81.77MB / s and 68.01MB / s;
- LAN Speed Test the maximum speed was 587.1MB / s and 532.2MB / s;
- AJA Video System measured read and write speeds of 71MB / s and 67MB / s.
If you take a look at the above read and write speeds, RAID 0 has the best speed performance, followed by JBOD, then a single hard disk, with RAID 1 having the worst speed performance. Although RAID 0 is the fastest, its hard disk protection is the worst. On the contrary, although RAID 0 is the slowest, but its hard disk protection is the best, but its capacity will be halved. In terms of JBOD, its characteristics are just the hard disk capacity superposition, without any speed bonus, and its hard disk protection ability is similar to RAID 0.
I do like the Mobile App provided, because I can directly use this APP to upload photos, videos and files from my phone directly to the NAS. I can also use this APP to set up the NAS services, such as FTP settings, user group settings, and WEB SERVER, etc., And there’s more … you can view my photos, videos and files using this APP. I prefer it to use iTunes Server, which can be turned into a media stream … playing music, movies and photos.
Installation and setup is a breeze, I installed all the hard disks on the tray with ease, and simply plugged in the LAN and power cord … Next, just use the URL provided and follow the instructions on the screen to set it up.
You can purchase the TerraMaster F2-210 NAS home server with rich functions and good performance for no more than $ HK 1200. Most of the NAS currently on the market now cost $ HK 1,500 and Functions and performance are similar to this NAS. Unless you are brand-controlled, why do we need to give a little more money to buy those more expensive NAS and not choose this NAS?
