Since the TD2 Thunderbolt 3 Plus is a DAS type of storage, the specifications, and features lists are shorter than those of NAS products. Also, the configuration is much easier and takes significantly less time.
The TD2 supports two 2.5″ or 3.5″ HDD or SSD. We can use any drive compatible with the SATA interface available on the market. However, I recommend drives designed for NAS or 24/7 work.
In our tests, we will use Kingston DC500M 1.92TB SSD, an enterprise-class SSD but not as expensive as other professional series SSD. Our tests confirm that the TD2 provides bandwidth of up to 810MB/s or even a bit higher. Everything else also meets the manufacturer’s declared values and specifications.
Package and its Contents
Like previously reviewed TerraMaster NAS, TD2 comes in a business-grade package that won’t tell us much about the product inside. Everything important is on the label placed on the side of the box.
I assume that these products are usually ordered from online stores, so the package is less important. What’s important is inside the box.
Inside the box, we will find a well-protected DAS and a box with accessories, manuals, and a power supply. The product is well-protected for the time of transport.
TerraMaster delivers everything we may need for the installation, including screwdrivers and drive labels.
On the next page, we will take a closer look at the TD2 Thunderbolt 3 Plus.
