Closer Look and Package
Our review sample came in standard retail blister package. There is not much to say about it. It’s doing a good job protecting the drive, that’s what is most important.
On the package we can also see the manufacturer’s declared performance, supported OS and a comparison between USB 2.0 and 3.0 standards.
Zalman gives one year warranty for this product as we may see in lower left side of the package. It could be longer especially given that Zalman used high endurance SLC flash.
As we see in official specifications there is no Windows 8 support but it’s working for me without problems, so there is nothing to worry about.
Zalman declares that transfers should be nearly the same at empty and nearly full drive. We will check that later as performance usually drops with more data on the drive.
U3M32 has a blue LED that shows the drive’s activity. It’s not too bright, making it unlikely to cause any issues while working with mobile devices.
The drive’s case is made out of metal. There is no detailed info what is it, probably aluminum.
Also on the Zalman’s product page we can read that drive has luxurious finish and chic style. Hard to say if it’s really luxurious but looks nice.
Zalman U3M32 isn’t big for this class of drive. It’s also not small but I don’t think it will cause any problems. Let’s say it’s harder to lose it.
The thing that is easy to lose is the USB protective cap as we see on the below photo.
I think we can now move on to performance tests.
