The Box and Packaging
The box is fairly large due to the size of the graphics card. Inside, you’ll find the user installation guide, a Taichi postcard and a GPU holder/bracket for supporting the weight of the graphics card.
A Closer Look
For cooling, the card comes with their Taichi 3X cooling solution giving you the best balance between the thermal efficiency and silent operation. It includes a massive heatsink with 8 heatpipes, and 3 striped ring fans, which gives you more lateral intake and thus providing better airflow through the cooling array.
The size of the card is huge and uses up 3 PCIE slot space. You definitely need a large chassis to mount this graphics card. Having said said that … it’s still smaller in appearance than the GeForce RTX 4090 😀
The ARGB backplate and a reinforced metal frame is an added bonus and enhances the structure to prevent the PCB from being bent.
On the top the card near you’ll find a unique Dual BIOS switch. This allows users choose the preferred setting by switching between the P (Performance) BIOS and Q (Quiet) BIOS. There’s also a LED on/off switch which allows you to use the built-in ARGB LEDs or if you prefer, you can use the 3-pin ARGB header so that you can add LED strips and sync the RGB lighting using ASRock’s Polychrome Sync.
The card features 3 x 8-pin PCIE power connectors, and all 3 need to be connected to power the card. The TBP (or total board power) of this card is around 355W, so we recommend a minimum power supply of 850W or higher. For monitor output, there’s 3 x DisplayPort v2.1 and 1 x HDMI 2.1 ports.
Installation
We used a pre-built system provided by ASRock, which is comprised of an AMD Rzyen 9 7950X3D and ASRock X670E Steel Legend motherboard, along with 32GB of DRR5-6000 ram.
When the system is powered up, you’ll notice the ring LED on the center fan lights up along with the ASRock logo on the top of the card. If you want to switch of the LED … no problems, just select the LED switch to off.
If you have a monitor what supports 144Hz or higher, make sure you use a high quality DisplayPort cable (1.4 minimum), and remember to enable FreeSync on the Adrenalin Software, otherwise you won’t be getting all the benefits of the graphics card or monitor.
