Cyberpunk 2077 Benchmark (4K – Ray Tracing: OverDrive)
CD PROJEKT RED released an update (v2.2) for Cyberpunk 2077 which includes their Ray Tracing: Overdrive option with RTX on and DLSS3 enabled. It’s incredibly demanding on your hardware.
Verdict and Conclusion
When I was asked to review the ASRock Steel Legend Intel Arc B580, I was a little intrigued and apprehensive. Afterall, I’ve never really had a chance to take a look at their previous generation of GPUs, the Arc A-series., which a lot of people say is a decent graphics card aimned at budget market.
Now we all know that the GPU market is extremely competitve, and it’s dominated by only two players – Nvidia and AMD. It’s virtually impossible to compete against these two behemoths, but I have to give Intel credit for trying, although I’m not sure if this will be another ill-fated attempt. If you ask me, I’d rather Intel spend their valuable resources on improving their desktop processors instead on developing GPUs. Anyway, that’s my opinion.
OK let’s get back to the review. The ASRock Steel Legend Intel Arc B580 as the name suggests, uses Intel’s latest Arc B580 GPU featuring the latest Xe2-HPG architecture with 20 Xe2 cores. It’s targeted at the budget to mainstream GPU market, and uses a slightly overclocked GPU running at 2.8GHz (default is 2.67GHz). It also comes with 12GB of GDDR6 ram running at 19Gbps on a 192-bit memory bus.
During our tests, we used an Intel Core i9-14900K processor, Asus Strix Z790-E Gaming motherboard and 32GB of Corsair Dominator DDR5-7400 memory. We got satisfactory scores in all of our benchmarks, including a score of 1,317 for Basemark’s Relic of Life, and a Geekbench GPU score of 98,138. For Unigine’s Valley benchmark, we got a score of of 5,488, and a Final Fantasy benchmark score of 10,922. Passmark 11 GPU was 17,633.
For Superposition 1080p extreme and optimized 4K, we got an adequate score of 8,173 and 9,931 respectively. For 3DMark Timespy and Firestrike, it produced decent scores of 15,601 and 31,942 respectively. And finally, for Speedway and Port Royal, it produce a acceptable score of 2,475 and 7,833 respectively. And lastly, we got a DirectX Raytracing score of 29.38 fps and a XeSS score of 79.61 fps.
For Cyberpunk 2077, CD PROJEKT RED released their new update (v2.2), which includes a new benchmark mode. It features their Ray Tracing: Overdrive option with RTX on and DLSS3 enabled. It’s incredibly demanding on your hardware, so we added it to our benchmark tests (see above). The ASRock Steel Legend Intel Arc B580 struggled at 4K, and produced a below-par score only 18.74 frames per second. However, at 1080p and 1440p, it produced a pretty decent and acceptable fps score of 136.2 and 103.73 respectively.
Overall, you can see from the benchmarks, that the performance of the Intel Arc B580 is really targeted and aimed at the budget to mainstream market. It mostly outperforms the Radeon RX 7600 and competes fairly well against the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti.
The ASRock Steel Legend Intel Arc B580 has plenty of video outputs, which includes 1 x HDMI 2.1a and 3 x DisplayPort 2.1 ports. This is good news, as it allows the ability to display at higher refresh rates using DisplayPort 2.1. Not even Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 40-series has this … it only has DisplayPort 1.4a.
Another plus point is that the card uses 2 x 8-pin PCIE power connectors, and this means it can be powered by a vast majority of power supplies. For cooling, the card comes with 3 striped ring fans with heatpipes, a large heatsink and a solid metal backplate. Some have said it’s an overkill, because the maximum TBP of the Intel Arc B580 is only 190W, still it does look impressive and adds great aesthetics.
The RGB lighting is controlled by ASRock’s Polychrome SYNC software, and you can also disable the LEDs using the on/off switch. If you want even more RGB, you’ll find an additional ARGB header located near the center of the backplate.
According to ASRock, the dimensions of the card is approximately 298mm x 131mm x 51mm, and uses up only 2.6 PCIE slot space. It’s much smaller than some of the other GPUs we’ve tested, so it should fit in most cases without any issues.
Final Thoughts
Armed with Intel’s next-gen Arc B580 GPU, the ASRock Steel Legend Intel Arc B580 graphics card is a fair attempt to target the budget to mainstream market. It’s competitively priced and outperforms the Radeon RX 7600, while competing fairly well against the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti.
