Verdict and Conclusion
After taking a closer look at the overall performance of the Radeon RX Vega 64, I think AMD is heading the right direction and making some progress. Though they still have a long way to go. Right now, the GeForce GTX 1080/1080 Ti is still the gamer’s choice when it comes to graphic cards.
If AMD is going to attract the gamers into buying their Radeon RX Vega, they’ll need to drop their prices … something similar to what they’ve done with their Ryzen processors. Currently, average prices of the Radeon RX Vega 64 is around USD $500-580, which to be honest isn’t so attractive, especially when I can get a GeForce GTX 1080 (which performs better than a Radeon RX Vega 64) for around the same price.
However, there is some good news … the Radeon RX Vega 64 does perform better than the GeForce GTX 1070, and if you’re a die-hard AMD/Radeon fan, then the Radeon RX Vega 64 could be the answer that you’re looking for.
In terms of extra features, I think Asus has done a good job. They’ve taken the standard Radeon RX Vega 64 and added Aura Sync, better fans and a larger heatsink to provide superior cooling. But is that really enough to persuade gamers into purchasing a Radeon RX Vega 64?
It will be interesting to see the performance of other Radeon RX Vega 64 graphics cards on the market … in any case, I’m sure the performance of the Asus ROG Strix Radeon RX Vega 64 will be at the very top.
You can buy the Asus ROG Strix Radeon RX Vega 64 graphics card for around USD $550-580 from various e-tailers. Buy something similar … the Sapphire Radeon RX Vega 64 from Amazon – http://amzn.to/2CP4Ds3
Pros:
- AMD Vega 10 GPU architecture
- HBM2
- Excellent cooling
- Aura Sync
Cons:
- GTX 1080 performs better for around the same price
Final thoughts:
Asus has taken the standard reference design of the Radeon RX Vega 64, and added its own superb features … turning it into something quite different. The large heatsink and 3 fan wing-blade design, provides superior cooling and what’s more, it comes with Aura Sync … perfect for matching your Asus ROG motherboards.

“You can buy the Asus ROG Strix Radeon RX Vega 64 graphics card for around USD $550-580 from various e-tailers.” From where?
Well, I found a different version (Sapphire) on Amazon for USD $560 – http://amzn.to/2zhqq9N
Stock cooler tho 🙁
If you want to overclock the RX Vega… you definitely need a better cooler.
terrible review. Not even an attempt at overclocking cos this card would crash. you can only get good performance from Vega if you water cool it as it’s too hot for ANY air cooler to handle.
My vega56 with a waterblock smashes all the scores on this review by huge margins.
Yeah the card does run HOT … our reviews are published using default setting only.
Yes, the RX Vega 64 does running pretty HOT, that’s why we didn’t overclock it. We don’t overclock VGA cards in our reviews. All our reviews are published at default settings.
There’s also something wrong with that Firestrike graphics score of 26542.
you’d have to be running clock speeds well over 1700 to get that score.
what a biased review, so much nvidia bias. messed up scores using pro nivdia benches, no oc,
…..
Yeah no OC, because it’s not great at overclocking.
Confirmed. This card has OC issues …
Great review!
