Cyberpunk 2077 Benchmark (4K – Ray Tracing: OverDrive)
CD PROJEKT RED released an update (v1.5) for Cyberpunk 2077 which includes their Ray Tracing: Overdrive option with RTX on and DLSS3 enabled. It’s incredibly demanding on your hardware.
Verdict and Conclusion
All said and done, the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4070 Ti is a fantastic graphics card that offers excellent performance at a fairly reasonble price. Featuring Nvidia’s ADA Lovelace architecture with 7,680 CUDA cores, it also comes with all the latest technologies such as DLSS3, 3rd Gen Ray Tracing, 4th Gen Tensore cores, Nvidia’s Reflex technology and more.
In general, the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti performs below AMD’s flagship Radeon RX 7900 XTX, but easily outperforms the GeForce RTX 3090 in all of our tests. And it does it using less power and produces less heat.
During our tests, we used our usual test rig which is comprised of an Intel Core i9-13900K processor, Asus Strix Z790-E Gaming motherboard and 32GB of Viper Gaming Venom DDR5-6200 memory. I got excellent scores in all of our benchmarks, including an impressive high score of 23,098 for Basemark GPU, and a Geekbench GPU score of 216,601. For Unigine’s Valley benchmark, we got a score of of 9,630, and a Final Fantasy benchmark score of 20,485.
For Superposition 1080p extreme and optimized 4K, we got excellent scores of 13,410 and 17,438 respectively. For 3DMark Timespy and Firestrike, it produced an amazing score of 22,377 and 41,515 respectively. And finally, for Speedway and Port Royal, it produce an impressive score of 5,442 and 14,187 respectively. And lastly, we got a DirectX Raytracing score of 69.31 fps and a Passmark 10 GPU score of 36,361.
When CD PROJEKT RED released their new update (v1.5) for Cyberpunk 2077 it included a benchmark mode. It also included their Ray Tracing: Overdrive option with RTX on and DLSS3 enabled. It’s incredibly demanding on your hardware, so we added it to our benchmark tests (see above). The Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4070 Ti killed it with a whopping 37 frames per second. It beats both the RTX 3090 and the Radeon RX 7900 XTX. Mind you, I think this game/benchmark is skewed more towards Nvidia’s way with its Ray Tracing and DLSS features.
As I mentioned earlier, the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti has a total power consumption (TBP) of around 285W, which is surprisingly low considering the performance you’re getting. I was expecting much higher. Either case, we recommend a minimum power supply of 750W or higher.
The card is requires the new PCIE 5.0 (16-pin 12VHPWR) power cable, so you might need a new power supply what supports this new connector. But luckily, Gigabyte have included a 2 x 8-pin PCIE to 16-pin 12VHPWR adapter with the package. Problem solved.
As far as looks are concerned, the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Gaming OC has a very solid and unique design. The card comes with a solid metal backplate giving it extra stability and protection. The included anti-sag bracket is an added bonus and provides better reinforcement, and prevents that ugly-looking sag due to the weight of the graphics card.
For cooling the card uses Gigabyte’s WindForce Cooling system featuring 7 copper heatpipes, a vapor chamber, 3 x 100mm fans that spin alternately. During our full load tests, the GPU hotspot reached a high of 73 degrees Celsius, the nominal GPU temperature reached a maximum of 59 degrees Celsius. These temperatures are much lower than I expected. Needless to say the Gigabyte WindForce Cooling system is doing an amazing job of cooling the graphics card, so well done Gigabyte!
Interestingly, the card features a BIOS OC/Slient switch which is located near the 16-pin 12VHPW connector. This switch allow users to run the card at the overclocked speed of 2.64 GHz for maximum performance (which means fans will run at full rpm), or silent mode with a base clock speed of 2.31 GHz.
And finally, the card supports Gigabyte’s RGB Fusion with 3 ring LEDs inside the cooling fans, which can be controlled using Gigabyte’s Control Center. Not all graphics card offer ring LED fans, and some of you may not like them, but I do 😀
Pricewise, the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Gaming OC graphics card costs under under USD $900, and you can get one for around USD $859.99 from Amazon – https://amzn.to/3oqzLaZ. At this price, it’s definitely worth considering if you’re after a GeForce RTX 40 series card that can easily beat a RTX 3090!
Final Thoughts
The Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Gaming OC is a fantastic graphic card that features all the latest technologies from Nvidia, such as DLSS 3 and 3rd Gen Ray Tracing. Thanks to its slightly overclocked GPU, it easily outperforms the RTX 3090 while positioning itself behind the Radeon RX 7900 XTX nicely. It does all of this using less power and produces less heat.
