Conclusion
HIS R7 240 1GB iCooler isn’t maybe the fastest card on the market but it wasn’t made to break any records. Deciding on R7 240 graphics processor we receive small, low power and cool running graphics card which is also inexpensive.
Let’s start from the strong points. HIS R7 240 is really quiet. I could say it’s silent no matter if it’s under load or not. It’s also keeping low temperature so is not heating up any other components in the PC.
Card is pretty small but not low profile. However it shouldn’t be an issue for most available computer cases.
One interesting thing that I’ve noticed is the price. Both versions so 1GB and 2GB cost about the same, approximately $80. I don’t think that performance would be much different in 2GB version as this lower performance graphics processor can’t really run at much higher details or higher display resolution.
Now what I would change. HIS cooling is small and quiet but could be smaller so it fit into single slot size card. It’s not a big issue for most users
Overclocking is great but with so high overclocking potential, card could have higher base clock than 780 MHz. For sure it would help with performance without raising temperature.
Pros:
- silent work
- high overclocking potential
- can run CrossFire without additonal bridge
- low price
- low power
Cons:
- cooling could be single slot size
- base clock could be higher with so high overclocking potential
Final words:
HIS R7 240 iCooler 1GB is a great low power graphics card which is running silent at low temperatures. It’s not fast enough to run more demanding games at high details but performance is pretty good for a cheaper graphics card.
I can recommend it to everyone who needs inexpensive graphics card for everyday use. Gamers better look for faster cards.
