AMD has built a reputation of building cards with great performance per watt. The 6000-series has definately not gone off of that path. There are cards that will fit every segment and niche out there for all types of PC users.
Cards made for basic 2D work, to intense quad-crossfire gaming can be bought from AMD. HIS has taken one of those great GPU cores and added a twist to the equation. They have taken a great low-power card and slapped a larger and cooler running heatsink to it.
Enter the HIS Radeon 6570 IceQ edition. While the 6570 is not exactly the top of the line, it is more intended for those people who want to add a bit of ooph to the HTPC or to their pre-built rig.
Compared to the rest of the AMD lineup, the 6570 is basically a 6670 that is downclocked, and has slower memory. This could be a great bang for the buck if the card will overclock to 6670 levels.

Thtoughout this review we will be taking a look at the HIS Radeon 6570 IceQ edition card. That means you get a much larger heatsink than what you would normally get on a card like this from another maker. What is great about that is the fact that all of the hot air will blow out of the back of the case, so you will keep your compact rig (or full sized rig) nice and cool instead of having warm air circulate inside of your case.
The Radeon 6570 supports tons of cool features such as DirectX 11, OpenCL 1.1, DirectCompute 11, Accelerated video encoding, transcoding, and upscaling,UVD 3 dedicated video playback accelerator,AMD HD3D technology,DisplayPort 1.2,HDMI 1.4a,Dual-link DVI with HDCP,VGA, and many other features.
We’ll be testing the HIS Radeon 6570 IceQ (1Gb DDR3) on a new test rig, which consist of the following Intel Core i7 – 3930K @ 3.5ghz (LGA 2011), Gigabyte X79-UD3 motherboard, 16Gb Crucial Ballistix Elite 1866mhz memory, Custom water loop cooler and an Antec 1200w Quattro power supply.
