Inside the SOC Launch Ediition box you’ll find the user guide/warranty, a 3 x 8-pin to 16-pin 12VHPWR adapter cable, and a compact graphics card holder to prevent sag.
You also get an exclusive limited-edition Lucky figurine. There are 9 to collect in total with 1 secret edition.
A Closer Look
The card is surprisingly thin, with a thickness of only 64mm (2.5 inches) and uses up 3 PCIE slot space. Just make sure you have enough space inside your chassis.
You also get a nice solid metal backplate with carbon fiber accents. The compact graphics card holder is a nice added bonus and prevents that ugly-looking sag due to the weight of the graphics card.
According to Nvidia, the GeForce RTX 5080 has TGP (or total graphics power) of around 360W, so we recommend a minimum power supply of 1000W or higher.
For cooling, it comes with MSI’s HYPER FROZR THERMAL DESIGN that combines cooling fans with claw-textured blades, core heat pipes, and vapor chamber to give you excellent cooling efficiency, optimal heat dissipation and silent performance.
The 16-pin 12VHPWR power connector is located on the center of the graphics card. You’ll also find the Dual BIOS Gaming/Silent switch next to this connector. This switch allows users to get the best gaming performance or enjoy silent operation. For video output, there’s 3 x DisplayPort v2.1b and 1 x HDMI 2.1b, allowing you to display up to 4K @ 480Hz or 8K 120Hz with DSC, Gaming VRR, HDR.
Installation
We didn’t encounter any issues during our installation. For our tests, we used our Project Aqua Hydrangea PC Build, which consists of Gigabyte Z890 AORUS Elite X ICE motherboard
On the top right side of the graphics card you’ll find the MSI logo, which lights up when the system is powered up.
Important word of advice. Make sure the 12VHPWR cable is SECURELY connected to the graphics card. Failing to do so will cause major issues/damage to the card.
