Verdict and Conclusion
When Nvidia announced the SUPER series, I was pretty skeptical with its performance over the original RTX 2080. Can a small increase in the number of CUDA cores really make that much of a difference. Well, all I can say is wow! … the performance of the ZOTAC GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER is truly excellent. This is all thanks to an factory overclocked GPU running at a boost speed 1875 MHz (default boost speed is at 1815 MHz), along with the increased number of CUDA cores, a total of 3,076, as well as a 256-bit memory bus offering a total bandwidth of 496 Mb/sec. It also features 8GB of GDDR6 ram with a memory speed of 15.5 Gbps
During our benchmark tests, it produced an excellent score of 6,688 in 3dMark Port Royal, with a DLSS (on) test score of 44.38 fps. For Timespy and Firestrike, we got a high score of 10,733 and 22,243 respectively. Final Fantasy XV score was also very good at 10,656.
This card comes with Power Boost for stability, SPECTRA 2.0 for RGB lighting, and ICE STORM 2.0 for cooling with a metal wraparound backplate. I didn’t overclock the card as its fast enough for me! .. but if you want to, you can use the Firestorm software to overclock your card even further. It should reach around 2000 Mhz +. But be warned … please be very careful. Any overclocking is done at your own risk.
Load temperatures reached a high of around 74 degrees Celsius which is quite high, but the Zotac ICE STORM 2.0 cooling, along with the triple fans and metal wraparound backplate, easily handled it with no issues at all.
To power up the ZOTAC Gaming GeForce RTX 2080 Super AMP Extreme, you’ll need 2 x PCIE 8-pin power cables. And since the power consumption of this card is rated at 250W, we recommend a minimum power supply of 750W or higher.
For those who are after multi-GPU configuration, you’re in luck. You’ll find the NVLink connector with the RTX 2080 SUPER allowing you to link up two of these cards in SLI mode.
You can buy the ZOTAC Gaming GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER AMP Extreme (8GB GDDR6) Graphics Card for USD $799 from Amazon. At this price, it’s a real heavy investment to make, but you won’t regret it.
