The Packaging
Due to the smaller foot print of the graphics card, the box and packaging is smaller and more compact. It advertises the main selling points which are … 6GB GDDR5 ram, Ice Storm cooling and Freeze-Tech. It also shows the support for GameWorks, VR Works, G-Sync, DX12 and it’s VR-Ready.
Inside the box, you’ll find the GeForce GTX 1060 card itself, a PCIE power cable and a quick startup guide and that’s it! There’s no drivers disk or instruction manual.
A Closer Look
Measuring just 210mm x 128mm, the card is much smaller and compact than its bigger brother, the GTX 1070 and GTX 1080 … Having said that, it still takes up 2 PCI slot space, but it should be fine for a majority of ATX chassis.
The fans look pretty standard (no EKO fans here), the FreezeTech feature will only spin the fan when the card reaches a certain temperature (or at full load). Interestingly, the heatsink features 2 large copper heatpipes which look quite beefy, and should do a good job of dissipating the excess heat.
On the I/O panel, you find 3 DisplayPort, 1 HDMI and one DVI connector, which is more than enough for most users.
