The Zotac GeForce GTX 1060 AMP Edition does not come with Exoarmor … and there’s no need. The card is less power hungry and therefore produces less heat. There is a nice Zotac logo with LED which lights up when the system is powered on.
There are no SLI bridge connections on the PCB, which sadly means it will not support SLI multi-GPU configurations.
The card only has one 6-pin PCIE power connector, which is great news. It means that the power consumption should be much lower than your GTX 1070 and GTX 1080.
The Card – Dissected
All of Zotac’s AMP Edition graphic cards come pre-overclocked. In the case of the Zotac GeForce GTX 1060 AMP Edition … the GPU runs at 1556 MHz (default speed is 1506 MHz), while boost speed reaches 1771 MHz. Notice the markings on the GTX 1060 GPU – Nvidia GP106-400 (the GTX 1070 has GP104-200).
The GeForce GTX 1060 AMP Edition from Zotac features their Ice-Storm cooling system. This particular model features a large heatsink with 2 large copper heatpipes and is cooled by 2 standard cooling fans.
You’ll also find the same high quality Samsung GDDR5 memory chips on the GTX 1060, as on the GTX 1070. They’re marked K4G80325FB, which runs at a blazing 1,000 MHz, that’s 8,000 MHz effective (1,000 x 4 x 2).
