Zotac ZBOX PI220 Pico Mini-PC Review

The Internals

I had the opportunity to ripped the ZBOX PI220 Pico apart 😛 Surprising, it contains a disc battery for the BIOS. On the same side, you can see the 3 x ICs, which I believe are the 32GB storage and I/O controller.

On the other side of the circuit board, you can see the Intel Atom x5-Z8300 processor along with the 2Gb of DDR3 ram. The inside of the casing is shielded and you can see the fan mounted on what appears to be mini heatsink. I also took a close up shot of the 802.11AC wifi chip.

The BIOS

Yes like all PCs, you do get a BIOS. Looking at the options … I was surprised to see so many options. The main BIOS page shows the details of the Intel Atom x5-Z8300 processor. Yes, it is a quad-core (not Hyper-threading). You can enable/disable the PCIE LAN and Wifi, as well as selecting various options for the 32GB storage, which incidently is produced by Samsung.

More options include the ability to enable/disable some of USB devices, and you can check out the information of the onboard 2GB DDR3 ram.
