Zotac ZBOX PI220 Pico Mini-PC Review

Verdict and Conclusion

I have to say, I’m pretty impressed with the power and performance of this thing. I mean it’s tiny, yet it can flawlessly run a full version of Windows 10 (Home Edition) which comes pre-loaded . It works great for web browsing and the occasional media playing of music and videos, but don’t expect it to run any CPU or graphic intensive applications… it’s not meant for that.

The built-in 32GB storage and 2Gb of ram is adequate, but I would have preferred it, if it was double the size to say 64GB storage and 4Gb of ram. The included Windows 10 (Home Edition) operating system took more 6GB alone.

As far as actual performance is concerned, the numbers produced by the ZBOX PI220 Pico isn’t anything to shout about. However having said that, it did outperform my aging old Nettop from 4 years ago which had a dual core Atom running at 1.8Ghz.

The cost of the Zotac ZBOX PI220 Pico will range from USD $200-250, which I think is acceptable, especially when you get a palm-size PC with quad-core Intel Atom x5-Z8300 CPU @ 1.44GHz, and features built-in 32GB storage, 2GB of DDR3 ram, and onboard Intel HD graphics. What’s more you also get 100Mb LAN, onboard 802.11AC WIFI, Bluetooth 4.0, USB 3.0 port, a micro SD card reader, as well as a HDMI connector (male type).,

Pros:

  • It’s the smallest Windows 10 based PC ever
  • A nippy quad-core Intel Atom x5-Z8300 CPU @ 1.44GHz
  • Onboard 32Gb storage with 2Gb of DDR3 ram
  • Both 100Mb LAN, 802.11AC WIFI and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity
  • Plugs into any TV or monitor with a HDMI port
  • Pre-loaded with Full Windows 10 (Home Edition) 32-bit

Cons:

  • More storage and ram required

Final Words:

With so many people owning smartphones, tablet and laptops, the Zotac ZBOX PI220 Pico is a refreshing change. How so … Well, have you ever tried to connecting your mobile devices to you’re TV? Not so easy, right? And even with a laptop, you still have to find an adapter cable or dongle. What a pain!

With the ZBOX PI220 Pico, all you have to do is plug the unit into any TV with A HDMI port… and that’s it!

If you want a truely portable, pocket-sized PC that fits in the palm of your hand, then the Zotac ZBOX PI220 Pico is definitely worth considering.
